The Danish multinational FLSmidth participated for the first time in the 11th edition of Expo Internacional San Juan Minera 2026 with an impressive stand where it showcased part of its technological developments through models and solutions applied to different mining industry processes.

Founded in 1882, the company is one of the world leaders in engineering, equipment, technology, and maintenance services for mining and cement. It currently operates in more than 80 countries and works across the entire mining value chain, from crushing and grinding to flotation and tailings management, with a focus on productivity and sustainability.
During the exhibition, Francisco Herrada, Solution Specialist Screen & Trommel Media at the company, highlighted that the presence in San Juan marks “a turning point” for the organization and confirmed that the company will move forward with establishing its own offices in the province.
For years, FLSmidth has managed operations and customer support for Argentine clients from Santiago, Chile. However, the growth of mining activity in the region and the advancement of copper projects in San Juan drove the decision to establish a local presence.
According to Herrada, the company seeks to provide not only equipment, but also experience and technical knowledge accumulated in mining markets such as Chile, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru. The intention is to work comprehensively across mining processes and contribute a long-term perspective aimed at optimizing operations.
In this regard, he confirmed that the opening of offices in San Juan is already a finalized decision and that the project will begin to be implemented within approximately 30 to 40 days.
Copper Mining at the Center of Attention
FLSmidth views the growth of Argentine mining with optimism, particularly due to the expansion of copper-related projects in San Juan, Mendoza, and Salta.
The company emphasized that Argentina is beginning to position itself more strongly within the Latin American mining map, historically dominated by Chile and Peru in terms of copper production. In this context, the company highlighted the importance of strengthening key infrastructure aspects such as energy and water resources to support the development of future operations.
The company also praised the networking environment generated during the exhibition and stated that there are broad opportunities to contribute solutions and technical expertise to the Argentine mining industry through a sustainable and comprehensive approach.
